About my work

Modelling

I use Blender for most of my 3d modelling needs, using a combination of traditional modelling techniques, sculpting, physics simulations, photogrammetry and armature manipulation to achieve the desired results.

I also use Photoshop for designing, Inkscape for vector graphics, Premiere for video editing and Chitubox for print preparation and export.

Printing

I currently use an Elegoo Mars 2 Pro printer. This is an SLA (stereolithography) printer which uses ulta-violet light to harden resin, layer by layer.

I use water-washable resin (usually ceramic grey, sometimes clear blue).

Painting

Painting is a multi-step process. First I spray a coat of white primer on the models. Then I add a base coat, a wash, another coat to clean up the mess that made, then work on finer details with the smallest brush I can find, then a drybush, and more detail work with metallic paints where appropriate.

Finally, I spray a coat of matte varnish to preserve the paint. I currently use Vallejo Model Color paints.
